An access log includes a record of all of the files that have been requested by the visitors while surfing around your Internet site. The list is comprehensive, so if you have a web page with two embedded images, for instance, all of the three files will be in the log, not just the page. An access log typically features the date, the Operating System, the Internet browser and the IP address for every file in human-readable form, so you can get a good idea about the most popular files on your Internet site. The log, that's also often called "raw data", is an addition to the web data which you typically get with a hosting account, not a substitute. An example why you could need such a log is if you intend to use some software on your personal computer to prepare a report about the website’s functionality, but you do not want to use the conventional graphs and tables which come with the server-generated site stats.
Access Log Manager in Shared Hosting
When you obtain a shared hosting from our company, you shall be able to determine if access logs should be created and for which domains or subdomains inside your account this must be done. You can enable this option from the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia Control Panel, integrated with all shared accounts. Any domain name you host or subdomain you create shall be listed there and you see an On/Off option next to each and every one of them, so you can conveniently enable or disable the generation of access logs individually for every site that you have. You could save a log to your computer by clicking on the Download link that you'll see in the same section of the Control Panel. The link shall be available even after you disable the log generation, so you will still have access to the data collected by our system.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you host your Internet sites inside a semi-dedicated server account with our company, you will have the option to activate or disable the generation of access logs with just a couple of mouse clicks in your Hepsia hosting Control Panel. You will find this function inside the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access when you sign in. All it takes for our system to start producing logs is one click on the On button you'll see there. The function can be activated separately for any website regardless if it uses a domain name or a subdomain and you'll find the complete list of all the hosts in that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with simply a click and you can then look at it manually or use some software on your personal computer. The log generation may be disabled by simply switching the On option to Off inside the Logs section of your Control Panel.
